New Companies House rules in the UK: mandatory verification of directors and PSCs from November 2025

Starting November 18, 2025, Companies House in the UK will introduce mandatory Identity Verification (IDV) for all directors, persons with significant control (PSC) and persons responsible for filing corporate documents.

The changes apply to both new companies that registering in the UK, as well as existing companies registered in England or Scotland.

Timetable for the introduction of identity verification for directors and PSCs in the UK

• From 08.04.2025 - a voluntary identity verification regime is available.
• From 18.11.2025 - verification becomes mandatory for all new directors and PSCs when registering a company in the UK.
• For existing directors and PSCs, there is a transitional period until November 2026 to identify and confirm their data.

Managing a company in the UK without an ACSP will become impossible

After 18.11.2025, only companies operating through an accredited corporate service provider (ACSP) will be able to:

1. submit financial statements and updates to Companies House;
2. change directors or shareholders;
3. submit a confirmation statement.
4. change company addresses.

Companies that do not use ACSP services risk losing the ability to submit documents, which can lead to blocking the activities of an English company or exclusion from the UK company register.
